A science fiction story that was every bit like a space soap opera, Star Wars is the classic tale of good against bad with heroes and villains in a distant galaxy. The epic Star Wars movies were conceived by George Lucas, then a young director with a new vision on film making. That revenue did not come easily as the six movies were the result of great effort and the innovation of technology that became a standard for modern science fiction movies. In 1967 Stanley Kubrick used creative photography to create very realistic space scenes in his classic movie 2001. George Lucas’s vision took that to a new level with space ships, alien creatures, and the “light Saber” the simplest of all weapons a sword but these were futuristic laser swords. The characters became our friends or foes and like the Wizard of Oz this story became part of modern culture. The main character throughout all 6 movies is Darth Vader, a Jedi Knight who turns to the dark side of the force, an omnipresent energy field that surrounds everything. Good triumphs over evil as it should but his intense powers and presence in the Star Wars story made the tall fierce – black armored Vader the most recognizable “bad guy” in the World.
